"Well, I guess I've worn a lot of hats since I came to Central Oregon in the 1970's," laughs Chuck. A contractor here since 1974, some of his other "hats" have included EMT and firefighter for the Camp Sherman Fire Department, leading his string of pack horses to deliver equipment for high school outdoor educational expeditions, and partnering with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to build a fish ladder at Blue Lake. Currently, he serves as a board member for the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council and president of the board for the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District.
PROJECTS AND PHILOSOPHY
Chuck's first construction project was a personal one. He build one of the first homes in Black Butte Ranch for his parents. Many of the people he worked with on that project became life-long friends and colleagues. Fast forward 42 years, and his building philosophy is still centered around working with quality materials and local people.
